10-day remand sought for Mozammel, Shyamal, Shahriar

Police today sought a 10-day remand for senior journalists Mozammel Babu, Shyamal Dutta and former president of the Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Shahriar Kabir in two murder cases.
“The three were produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka in the morning. The hearing on the remand prayer will be held later,” a sub-inspector working in the court told The Daily Star.
Police arrested Babu, managing director and editor-in-chief of Ekattor TV, and Shyamal, former general secretary of Jatiya Press Club, from Mymensingh border yesterday.
Shahriar Kabir was arrested from his residence in Banani last night.
Meanwhile, police also sought a five-day remand today for former railways minister Nurul Islam Sujan in a murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station. Sujan was arrested from the city’s Shyamoli area yesterday.
